Writing is a skill that responds to deliberate practice.

Each program at Jent Ulvak is built around a specific writing problem — not a general topic. You work on real texts, receive structured feedback, and revise until the technique holds.

What these programs address

Most writing difficulties are not about vocabulary or grammar. They are about structure — knowing where a sentence should end, how a paragraph earns its length, and when an argument needs more evidence versus fewer words. These programs focus on those decisions.

The courses are led by practitioners who write professionally and teach from active experience. Sessions include annotated examples, revision exercises, and direct critique. There are no generic templates — each participant works with their own material.

Progress depends on the time you put in between sessions. Most participants see measurable improvement in clarity and structure within the first four weeks, provided they complete the assigned writing tasks. Where craft becomes habit

Consistent writing practice, structured critique, and attention to revision — these are the conditions under which writing actually improves.

How the program runs

Each course follows the same four-stage structure regardless of topic. You know at every point what is expected and what comes next.

01

Diagnostic writing

You submit a short piece of your own writing. The instructor identifies the two or three patterns that most affect your clarity and structure.

02

Technique sessions

Video sessions cover one specific technique at a time — sentence rhythm, paragraph logic, or argument sequencing — with annotated examples from published texts.

03

Revision assignments

You apply each technique to your own writing and submit for written feedback. Revisions are returned within five business days with line-level comments.

04

Final review

A closing session compares your first diagnostic piece with your final submission. Differences are documented so you have a concrete record of what changed.
